Happy Thanksgiving

Share the joy

Post Update 4am EST: I woke up in the middle of the night with the persistent thought to check out Collective Evolution’s website. Here is what I found:

Breaking: Millions Watch As Water Cannons, Rubber Bullets, Tear Gas, Concussion Grenades Being Used on Peaceful Protectors

The Thanksgiving Holiday in America is a time when we celebrate the unity between the Pilgrims and their Native American allies back in the 1620’s. The ancestors of the Wampanoag Nation helped protect the small group of Pilgrims who came to this country. The Pilgrims small numbers and unfamiliarity with the countryside made them vulnerable to attack.

Today, over 300 Tribes and First Nations have come together again, in Unity with the people of all races, to help protect our waters.

This Thanksgiving, let’s all give thanks to those who have put their lives, health, finances, and freedom on the line to defend not just their sovereignty, but ours as well. Let’s help protect them as they’ve done for us.

Here are people you can contact who sent militarized police to Standing Rock. This is reprinted from Emily Fuller’s article for Yes! Magazine, How to Contact the People Sending Militarized Police to Standing Rock.

Here are the people in my life that I’m grateful for this season:

Our readers: You make my writer’s dreams come true every time you check out my posts. Thanks for all your support.

My sisters: For letting me be me and backing my dreams with your nonjudgmental support.

Trina Noelle: For becoming a sister in every sense of the word, and my cohort in living out our dreams.

My nieces and nephews: For reminding me to laugh, and making me do just that at every turn. And for being my biggest incentive to keep following my passions.

My friends: For helping uplift my dreams with all your advice, assistance, and the occasional arse-kicking.

My furbabies: OK, they’re not people, but try telling them that. They help keep me loving the little things in life, like good food and a fun chase outside.

The System Busters: For being brave enough to make waves out in the world in order to make it a better place for all of us.

Myself: For constantly learning, growing, and taking the kind of chances that make for a blessed life.

What about you? I’d love to hear what you’re thankful for. Let me know in the comments below:-)
