When enough is enough.
Today finds me in a peculiar mood. Actually, the culmination of days, months and years of dealing with the ugliest displays of narcissism, hurtful words and equally as hurtful actions, to which I have tried to maintain my hope and my footing despite these slippery slopes.
Add to it the events of the world–not only the most recent ones, but also far back in our collective history– where brutality has been justified over differences in color, ability, culture and sexuality.
When someone loses their life at the prejudiced hand of another, or faces pain due to hatred, it diminishes us all. We will never be sick enough of these perverse displays of dominance, until our actions match our words.
I have experienced things in my life that yes, have hardened the already set steel of my personality, but in the same token feel more deeply than before when it comes to injustice, pain, gossip, greed, and the perversion of writings for someone’s own justification of their ignorance.
When it comes down to it, we are ALL just trying to make it from cradle to grave with a little bit of peace, love and a whole lot of understanding. More rules and laws will not accomplish a stemming of the tide of madness, because the ones who commit atrocities believe they are outside the scope of the rule of law.
It is in our hands to look at the world we would like to have and seek to create that same world for others. To no longer live in fear, but in the security that we all can create when we look beyond the mirror of self and see each other as people. If united we stand and divided we fall, you’re as sick of these agents of division as much as I am today.
The tributes change, but the causes remain the same. And if you say that you are tired of this mess, being a disciple of destruction and hate should be the furthest thing from your mind.
Be well everyone. And to anyone and everyone the world over who has been emotionally altered by the narrow minds that selfishly plod among us, I wish you love, peace, light and a day in the very near future when things change for the better… for us all.
